About the event
Central Saint Martins, in collaboration with West African Makers Camp, presents an early evening screening and conversation in the Conservatory exploring craft, industry and creative discovery on the road.
It’s Still There is the first episode of an ongoing road-trip documentation project tracing UK heritage craft and manufacturing. Following Oliver Roberts, Luke Hemingway and Paris Ryan from the Midlands through the North West to the Scottish Borders, the film explores the surviving infrastructure, skills and stories shaping British textile production today. Raw, curious and full of texture, it captures not just a journey but a way of seeing: process over polish, exploration over perfection.
A discussion led by Dr. Brett Staniland follows, reflecting on the makers encountered along the way and how these exchanges are informing the trio’s values and emerging MA Fashion collections at Central Saint Martins. Together, screening and conversation open a window onto contemporary design shaped by place, people and production.
Presented by Central Saint Martins as part of West African Makers Camp
