About this event
Greg Wilson and editor, Mike Atkinson, return to shine a light on James Hamilton — one of the overlooked pioneers of UK dance culture, whose weekly Record Mirror columns mapped the rise of disco and subsequently hip-hop and house. Following the success of ‘Disco Pages 1975-1982’, the companion book, ‘Dance Pages 1983-1989’ is published in December via Greg’s SWS Books imprint, this time including almost 7000 reviews, club-scene notes, DJ charts, monthly playlists, and fresh introductions from Greg and Mike, with a foreword from Pete Tong.
This session brings those pages to life: stories, rare cuts, sharp insight, and a guided journey through the sounds that shaped an era. A warm, intimate evening for anyone who loves the roots of dance music and the people who defined it.
The talk will be followed by Mike’s live creation of one of James’ mixes outlined in the book.
